I have a prediction: if you don’t rent Sunshine Cleaning, at some point in the near future, somebody is going to recommend it to you. It’s a guaranteed word-of-mouth sleeper hit.
The movie has that perfect balance of clever comedy and a really moving dramatic story. It’s marketed more as a comedy, but in our opinion it’s a mix of both styles. Lorie commented that she expected more comedy.
Amy Adams is an absolute wonder as an actress, and she brings that certain something to just about every movie she’s in. This one is no different. In fact, both she and Emily Blunt, who plays the younger sister, make this movie what it is.
The story is told with such a subtle touch, and you feel like you’re a part of the lives of all the characters.
You know what – enough talk. Just watch it already!
